Stepping Stone, a concept initially developed and funded by St. Mary’s church in Tadcaster with support from all the town’s churches, together with a grant from the Archbishop of York Urban Fund, a grant from the Tadcaster Town Council and individual private donations, opened in January 2002 as a free help and information resource for the local community and surrounding villages. Located in town centre shop premises Stepping Stone is managed and staffed entirely by volunteers drawn from within the local community.  Once up and running Stepping Stone became an independent registered charity supported by donations and fund raising activities.

Recent awards include grants from Selby District Council and Tadcaster Urban Fund. Personal donations to Stepping Stone are always welcome and any cheques should be made payable to Stepping Stone Tadcaster
